Augsburg manager, Jess Thorup has commended Frank Onyeka following an outstanding debut performance in the club’s 3-1 victory over St. Pauli, on Sunday.
Onyeka, 26, made an immediate impact for the Bundesliga side, providing an assist in his first appearance after joining Augsburg on a season-long loan from Premier League club Brentford.
Thorup expressed his delight with the Midfielder’s contribution, noting the Nigerian international’s quality despite limited preparation time.
“He only trained twice and had just returned from international duty, but from the start, he showed us what a good player he is,” Thorup said.
“He’s ready to help the team, and that’s exactly what he did today.”
Thorup added that while Onyeka came close to scoring, his overall performance was “outstanding” for a debut.
Onyeka also made five successful tackles during the game.
