Nigeria secured a spot in the final of the U18 Women’s AfroBasket after a hard-fought victory over Uganda in the semi-finals, on Friday, in Pretoria.
J’Tigress secured a narrow 71-67 win over their opponents, but it was enough to book a place in the final against Mali.
This victory also guarantees Nigeria a spot in next year’s FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup, as they have earned one of two automatic qualification spots from Africa.
With their World Cup qualification secured, the Nigerian team now sets its sights on clinching the championship in South Africa.
They aim to cap off their impressive campaign with a win against Mali in the final.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s male U18 team fell short in their quest for the title, losing to Mali in the quarter-finals.
