Kano Pillars delivered a dominant performance against Nigeria Premier League debutants Ikorodu City, securing a 3-0 victory in their match-day one clash at Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina, on Sunday.
After a goalless first half, the Sai Masu Gida came alive in the second half.
Mustapha Umar opened the scoring for Pillars in the 62nd minute, setting the stage for a commanding display.
Veteran midfielder Rabiu Ali, 43, took charge of the game, scoring a brace.
His first came from a well-taken free-kick to double Pillars’ lead, before sealing the win with a third goal just seven minutes later.
Usman Abdallah’s side will look to build on this strong start in their next outing as they aim for a successful campaign.
