The Falconets kicked off their 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Korea Republic.
Flourish Sabastine emerged as the hero, netting the decisive goal just four minutes from the final whistle.
Following the match, Head Coach Chris Danjuma expressed confidence in the team’s ability to elevate their performance in their upcoming fixture.
In an interview with FIFA.com, Danjuma acknowledged the challenges of the opening game but remained optimistic.
“It was a tough match, being the first match. The victory is sweet because it puts your foot in the group,” Danjuma stated.
“My team performed well, but I know we’re going to perform much, much, much better than this.”
The Falconets are set to take on Germany in their second group stage match on Wednesday in Bogota, where they will look to build on their strong start.
