Interim Super Eagles manager Augustine Eguavoen has bolstered his coaching staff with notable domestic league figures to assist in the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

Eguavoen has called upon Enugu Rangers’ head coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu, who guided his team to victory in Nigeria’s top league last season, and Daniel Ogunmodede of Remo Stars, who led his side to a commendable second-place finish.

Their inclusion is expected to bring valuable tactical insights and familiarity with local talents.

In addition to Ilechukwu and Ogunmodede, the technical team includes Tomaz Zorec, a fitness trainer from Slovenia, as well as Olatunji Baruwa, who will oversee the goalkeepers, and match analyst Eboboritse Uwejamomere.

This diverse group is set to bring a balanced approach to the Super Eagles’ preparations.

The team will convene in Uyo on Monday to begin preparations for the crucial match against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic, scheduled for Saturday at 5 pm at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

Following this, the squad will travel to Kigali for their second match against the Amavubi (Bees) of Rwanda on Tuesday, with the game set to kick off at 3 pm local time (2 pm in Nigeria) at the Amahoro Stadium.

These matches are crucial for Nigeria as they aim to secure a place in the 2025 AFCON tournament.
