Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has revealed that the club was unable to sign Victor Osimhen due to a failure to agree terms.
Chelsea delegates traveled to Naples in an attempt to finalize the deal for the striker, but negotiations broke down when both parties could not reach an agreement on the player’s wages.
The Blues offered Osimhen an annual salary of £4 million, which is less than half of what he currently earns at Napoli.
Following Sunday’s draw against Crystal Palace, Maresca confirmed that the club could not meet Osimhen’s demands and emphasized that new signings would only join under the club’s terms.
“We want players, but we want a player who will accept our conditions,” Maresca said.
“If a player is not here, then it was not meant to be. A new striker in January? We will see.”
