Osimhen Finds Chelsea’s Deadline day offer “Ridiculous” and “Insulting”

Napoli is prepared to exclude Victor Osimhen from the squad unless Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli reopens negotiations.
The striker had hoped for a significant offer during the final hours of the European transfer window, but talks between the clubs fell through.
Osimhen also rejected a transfer to Chelsea, who proposed a deal with a €4 million annual salary and an additional €4 million in bonuses.
The offer was significantly below his current €10 million per season salary with Napoli, plus €4 million in performance-related bonuses.
Chelsea’s bonuses were tied to the club qualifying for the Champions League and Osimhen’s goals and appearances, which the player had reservations about, given Chelsea’s recent struggles to secure even a Conference League spot.
The Nigeria international, who signed his current contract with Napoli in December 2023, is unwilling to accept a pay cut.
He is reportedly furious with Napoli for failing to finalize a deal with Al-Ahli, where he could have earned €40 million per season with a release clause.
Negotiations stalled after Napoli demanded an extra €5 million in add-ons on top of Al-Ahli’s €80 million offer.
With the European transfer window now closed, Osimhen is now likely to be left out of all Napoli’s games and first team training sessions.
Napoli’s remaining hope is that another Saudi Pro League team will make a move before their transfer deadline on September 2.
