Getafe summer signing, Chrisantus Uche says his LaLiga debut was an unforgettable experience, and describes the occasion as a “dream come true”.
Uche, 21, was handed a starter’s spot by Getafe boss Jose Bordelas, and the Nigerian youngster did not disappoint.
It was indeed a dream start to his life in Spanish top flight football, finding the back of the net in a tense game against Copa del Rey winners, Athletic Bilbao.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s game, at the Coliseum against Rayo Vallecano, Uche was on press duties, and answered questions about his debut.
“The first game was so amazing to me; it was a dream come true,” said the Forward who has now come to be known as ‘The Rock’, for his style of play.
” I’m really glad for the opportunity and I’ll never forget that day, I’m grateful,” he remarked.
Rising through the lower divisions in Spain after he left his home town of Owerri, in 2023 Uche signed for Spanish third division side AD Cueta FC, and after one season joined Getafe on a four-year contract.
A midfielder, but also versatile and can function as a Striker or False 9, the former Moralo player will hope to keep the streak of his form and deliver today against Rayo Vallecano.
Chrisantus Uche is now the second Nigerian player to feature for Getafe in LaLiga since Ike Uche. The latter made 55 appearances for Azulones over two seasons.
