Former Nigeria Women’s U17 NT head coach, Bala Nkiyu has expressed strong confidence in the U20 WNT’s ability to compete for honors at the upcoming FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.
Nkiyu praised the quality of the players assembled by coach Christopher Danjuma and the thorough preparation they have undergone, noting that the team is well-equipped to make a significant impact on the global stage.
He also emphasized that the World Cup provides a golden opportunity for the young players to showcase their talents and advance their careers.
“I was opportune to watch the Falconets train, and left for me I’ll say they’re ready,” Nkiyu said. “World Cup is a different ball game, I know, but definitely it’s not spirits that play it, it’s human beings. I’m very sure that they’ll make a mark.”
Nkiyu is optimistic that the Falconets will do more than just participate, expecting them to challenge the best teams in the world and make Nigeria proud.
He also called on fans to support and pray for the team as they aim to achieve greatness on the world stage.
“They are not just going there to make the number. They are going there to make a mark. I’m sure they will do well. Because the players too are aiming to go to places.
” I’ve seen the Super Falcons players, most of them are in Europe now. And everybody is always aiming to go higher.”
“So at least the only thing we owe them is to just pray for them. But I’m sure they will do well.”
