Nigeria’s Women’s U20 NT, the Falconets, will begin a two-week final training camp in Bogota, Colombia ahead of the World Cup.

Nigeria’s team will open camp, Sunday, ahead of the tournament which is scheduled to kick off at the end of the August.

The Falconets, two-time finalists and quarter-finalists in past tournaments, secured their place at this year’s event after victories over Tanzania and Burundi.

Led by coach Christopher Musa Danjuma, the team spent four weeks in Abuja for their first phase of preparation, winning several friendly matches.

Coach Danjuma before departure stated, “I want to thank the NFF for arranging the two-week camping in Colombia.

“This will go a long way to help the team, as the players will acclimatize very well and get familiar with their surroundings before the championship begins. I assure you that we will make the best use of this opportunity,”

Meanwhile, Sports Minister, John Owan Enoh also encouraged the team to aim for victory, building on the accomplishments of previous Falconets teams, which have twice reached the final.

The Falconets is drawn in Group C, and will face Korea Republic, Germany, and Venezuela.

Their first match is on September 1 against Korea Republic in Bogota, followed by Germany on September 4 and Venezuela on September 7.

With the tournament expanded to 24 teams for the first time, Nigeria is joined by Morocco, Cameroon, and Ghana as Africa’s representatives. Matches will take place in three cities: Bogotá, Medellín, and Cali.
