Nigeria’s men’s and women’s 4x100m relay teams faced disappointment at the ongoing Paris Olympic Games, both failing to secure spots in the finals.
The women’s team, composed of Justina Eyakpobeyan, Favour Ofili, Rosemary Chukwuma, and Tima Godbless, clocked a Season’s Best of 42.70 seconds but only managed to finish 6th in their heat, missing out on automatic qualification.
Similarly, the men’s team, featuring Favour Ashe, Kanyinsola Ajayi, Alaba Akintola, and Usheoritse Itsekiri, finished 7th in Heat 1 with a Season’s Best of 38.20 seconds, also falling short of a place in the final.
Meanwhile, South Africa secured an automatic spot in the men’s final, finishing 2nd with a Season’s Best of 37.94 seconds, while the USA won the heat with a time of 37.47 seconds.
