Head coach Rena Wakama has assured that D’Tigress are not feeling any pressure as they prepare for a crucial match against Team USA.

The African champions are set to face the defending champions on Wednesday after a significant victory over Canada in their final group game.

This win against Canada has made D’Tigress the first African basketball team to reach the quarter-finals of the Olympics.

Reflecting on the tournament, Wakama described their defeat to France as a boost, and stressed its impact on the team.

“I am glad we did have that loss because we were able to get back to what we do best.

“Also, there’s no pressure on us now and we have shown everyone that we deserve to be playing here,” she said.

The African champions will take on Team USA on Wednesday, August 7, at 8:30 pm.
