Nigerian sprinter Favour Ofili delivered a standout performance in the women’s 200m at the ongoing 2024 Olympic Games, winning her heat with a time of 22.24 seconds.
Despite not competing in the women’s 100m due to administrative oversights by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) and the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), the 21-year-old was determined to make her mark.
“Despite the setbacks, I was determined to shine. Mental preparation was key. Regardless of what happened, I was determined to be ready,” Ofili said.
“When I step on the track, I aim to cross the line before anyone else. We are all Olympians, and I treat every competitor the same.”
Favour Ofili is placed as a strong contender for the finals following her impressive race.
