Former D’Tigress head coach, Scott Nnaji, has commended the Nigerian women’s basketball team for their historic achievement of qualifying for the quarterfinals at the Olympics after their victory over Canada.

In an interview with Brila.net, Nnaji highlighted the team’s ability to adapt and the emergence of key players stepping up to the challenge and their determination to compete effectively in the qualifiers.

“The team’s ability to adapt and some players stepping up to the challenge and taking on the responsibility has helped the team achieve the quarterfinal feat,” Nnaji explained.

He also lauded the overall effort of the team and the coaching staff, led by Coach Rena Wakama.

“We’re all happy because it’s a good one for not just Nigeria but also for Africa. The thing is that we’re always challenging the other continents and Nigeria has always been there to push the African countries forward in the women’s championships for us,” Nnaji said.

“For what I mean, their skills, like Musa, she has shown that she has really improved. The team, they believes they are able to compete in the qualifiers,” he concluded.
