D’Tigress of Nigeria have been drawn against the USA in the quarter-finals of the women’s basketball event at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The AfroBasket champions secured Nigeria’s historic first appearance in the last eight of the Olympic basketball tournament by defeating Canada 79-70 in their final group game on Sunday.
This also marks the first time an African team – male or female – has reached the quarter-finals.
D’Tigress are slated to face the defending champions and currently the top-ranked team in the world, on August 7 at 9:30 pm (8:30 pm Nigerian time).
This encounter will be the second time both teams meet at the Olympic Games.
At the Tokyo Olympics, D’Tigress lost to the Americans by 9 points in their opening group game.
