Canada Women’s basketball forward Natalie Achonwa conceded that Nigeria’s D’Tigress outperformed her team.
Aiming to secure a spot in the quarter-finals of the Olympic Women’s Basketball event, Canada however fell short as Nigeria dominated with a 79-70 victory.
Achonwa reflected on the experience, saying, “It’s been a hell of a journey, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Competing with the best in the world in high-stakes situations requires readiness for every possession.”
Despite boasting a roster of notable players, rising stars, and recent WNBA draft picks, Canada, which finished fourth at the recent FIBA Women’s World Cup, could not maintain their edge in France.
“I don’t want to make excuses. You have to show up for every possession and every play. The teams we played did it better than us.”
