Williams Troost-Ekong marked his return to action by scoring the winning goal as PAOK defeated Bosnian club Borac Banja Luka 3-2 in their UEFA Champions League second round first-leg match.
This was the centre-back’s first competitive game since Nigeria’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final against hosts Cote d’Ivoire.
Troost-Ekong had been sidelined for around five months due to an injury sustained during the AFCON tournament.
With the game tied at 2-2, Troost-Ekong scored the winning goal in the 51st minute, ensuring PAOK took a crucial lead into the second leg.
The return match is scheduled for Wednesday, July 31. The aggregate winner will progress to the third round of the competition.
