Fenerbahçe kicked off their UEFA Champions League second round qualifying campaign with a thrilling 4-3 victory over Lugano on Tuesday, with Right-back Bright Osayi-Samuel playing a crucial role in the victory.

In what marked Jose Mourinho’s debut as head coach of the Turkish Super Lig team, Osayi-Samuel delivered a stellar performance.

Starting the match, the full back completed 25 passes, made two blocks, and four interceptions, and played a crucial role in setting up the team’s third goal.

He was substituted in the 69th minute.

Fenerbahçe’s victory was hard-fought, with Edin Dzeko scoring a hat-trick.

However, Lugano made them work for it, taking an early lead in the fourth minute through Ayman El Wafi.

Dzeko responded with two goals, one on either side of halftime, only for Uran Bislimi to level the score for Lugano.

Ferdi Kadıoğlu restored Fenerbahçe’s lead before Dzeko completed his hat-trick to make it 4-2.

Lugano’s Milton Valenzuela scored in stoppage time, keeping the tie alive as the teams prepare to face off again in Istanbul next Tuesday.
