102
Daniel Igali, President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, has announced that the nation’s wrestlers are in excellent condition and poised to deliver an outstanding performance at this year’s Olympic Games in Paris.
Igali expressed confidence that the athletes will secure medals for Nigeria.
“The Nigeria Wrestling Federation is very serious,” he said.
“The athletes have been in camp training for a couple of weeks before attending the Pre-Olympic tournament in Madrid, Spain. In my view, the athletes are battle-prepared.”
He added that the wrestlers are not merely participating but are competing with the goal of winning medals.
Olympic silver medallist Blessing Oborududu, World silver medallist Odunayo Adekuoroye, and four other top wrestlers will represent Nigeria at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
“The Federation is hopeful that if we compete very well, the medals will come,” Igali added.
“Wrestling gave Nigeria her only silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and we intend to deliver once again.”
Currently, Nigerian wrestlers are in Germany for the final phase of their training tour ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games.
The wrestling event is scheduled to take place from August 5th to 11th at the Champ-de-Mars Arena in Paris, France.
