Finidi Aims for Continental Success with Rivers United
85
Rivers United has officially appointed Finidi George as their new head coach, as announced by the former Nigeria Premier Football League champions.
Finidi steps into the role following the tenure of interim boss Ogenyi Evans, who had temporarily replaced Stanley Eguma.
The appointment comes on the heels of a disappointing season for Rivers United, who finished eighth and missed out on CAF Football competition for the first time in four years.
Finidi is determined to reverse the club’s fortunes and secure a continental ticket next season.
Expressing his gratitude and ambitions at the contract signing ceremony Finidi stated, “I am honoured to have this opportunity, and I thank the Sports Commissioner, the General Manager, and the supporters for their confidence in me.
“I am committed to working hard and making the team win. The target set is to win games and at least finish on the continent next season.”
Finidi brings a successful track record to Rivers United, having previously led Enyimba to an NPFL title during his three-year tenure with the two-time African champions.
He also had a brief spell as Super Eagles’ Head Coach.
