Earlier this week, the Minnesota Vikings placed quarterback Teddy Bridgewater on the active/physically unable to perform list as the 24-year-old attempts to make a full recovery from a torn ACL and dislocated knee he suffered August 30, 2016.
On Thursday, Bridgewater spoke with reporters about his progress and also about how his mother continues to lift him emotionally.
The fourth-year pro has publicly discussed his mother’s breast cancer, and he presented her with a pink Cadillac Escalade ahead of the 2014 NFL draft.
Per Eric Smith of the Vikings’ official website, Bridgewater explained to the media how his mom’s story serves as inspiration:
“It’s been one grind. The best thing that I had going for me is that I’ve had an experience with this kind of fight watching my mom battle breast cancer. I come from amazing DNA, and we’re fighters.
“You have your days where you don’t see the progress, but it’s a long process. It’s a roller coaster that you go on, but for me, I’ve had so much support that I’ve had more great days than I have bad days.”
