Nigeria WNT, the Super Falcons, have commenced their preparations for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, holding their first training session in Seville, Spain on Sunday.
The Super Falcons’ camp officially opened on Friday, but the initial training was delayed due to the late arrival of players.
A limited number of players participated in the first session, including Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Tochukwu Oluehi, Deborah Abiodun, Toni Payne, and Rivers Angels goalkeeper Morufat Ademola.
Others in attendance were goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, Gift Monday, Chidinma Okeke, and Christy Ucheibe.
Notably absent was star forward Asisat Oshoala, who played for Bay FC in their 3-0 defeat to Washington on Sunday.
The team, under the guidance of head coach Randy Waldrum, will continue their training in Seville for two weeks before departing for France on July 18.
Nigeria, nine-time African champions, are set to face Brazil, Spain, and Japan in the group stages of the tournament.
Their opening match against Brazil is scheduled for July 25 at the Stade Bordeaux, followed by games against Spain on July 28 and Japan on July 31.
