Arsenal’s pursuit of a new striker appears to be focusing away from Victor Osimhen, despite the Nigerian’s desire to join the Gunners.

Reports indicate that the North London club is exploring other options due to the hefty release clause tied to Osimhen.

Osimhen, who recently renewed his contract with Napoli, carries a release clause of €130 million, though it’s rumored Napoli has reduced the price to around €80 million.

However, Arsenal’s interest seems to be shifting towards Sporting’s Viktor Gyökeres.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Gyökeres, despite his €100 million release clause, has caught Arsenal’s attention due to his comparatively lower salary demands.

Meanwhile, Chelsea, another club previously linked with Osimhen, is said to have altered its transfer strategy following the appointment of Italian manager Enzo Maresca.

As it stands, Osimhen is set to resume preseason training with Napoli, awaiting any potential market shifts.

The Nigerian international has been crucial to Napoli’s recent successes and remains a key figure for the Italian side.

Victor Osimhen played a pivotal role in Napoli’s success two seasons ago, leading the team to the Serie A title and the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

He netted an impressive 29 goals across all competitions during that campaign.

However, the following season proved more challenging for Osimhen.

Hampered by injuries and national team commitments, he managed to score just 19 goals in all competitions.
