Obodo Urges Calm Over Inclusion of NPFL Players in Super Eagles Squad

Former Super Eagles midfielder Christian Obodo has reassured fans and called for calm regarding the inclusion of NPFL players in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Speaking with Brila.net, Obodo emphasized that there should be no concern as long as the coaches are confident in the abilities of the home-based players and select the best talents available.
“It’s not a risk to have one or two home-based players in the team if they’re really good. It’s not a bad thing,” the former Midfielder said.
“At least, to give some of our home-based players the opportunity to be in the national team. It’s not a bad idea at all.”
He highlighted the importance of selecting the right players, ensuring they meet the required standards and have potential for the future.
Obodo stressed that the inclusion should be based on merit and not merely to fulfill a quota.
“As far as it’s the correct player, not just bringing any player because home-based must be in the team.
“He (Finidi) must bring a player that he knows has a future for tomorrow, that is very good and can meet the standards with the players we have in Europe,” the former Super Eagles star added.
