Ahead of the upcoming Paris Olympics, the Federal Ministry of Sports Development has announced the commencement of intensive preparations.

Minister of Sports Development, John Enoh, revealed this development during a ministerial strategic technical meeting held on Thursday in Abuja.

The meeting, attended by Federation Presidents, Secretaries, and Technical directors of the 11 Olympic-bound sports, emphasized the crucial role of preparation in ensuring Team Nigeria’s success at the Games.

Sen. Enoh underscored the significance of proper training regimes and assured stakeholders that no effort would be spared to optimize athletes’ performance.

To facilitate rigorous training, Team Nigeria will establish training camps in three states—Lagos, Bayelsa, Oyo—and the Federal Capital Territory.

These camps will serve as hubs for honing athletes’ skills and fostering team cohesion ahead of the Paris Olympics.

Following the domestic camp, athletes will embark on foreign training tours to further enhance their readiness for the global competition.

The Minister also revealed plans for training tours in countries with proximity to France, including Germany, Spain, Italy, and the United States.

With 88 athletes already qualified for the Olympics and others in the midst of the qualification process, Team Nigeria is poised to field a formidable contingent at the Paris Olympics scheduled from July 26 to August 11.
