In the latest rankings released by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), Aruna Quadri has surged back to the pinnacle of the African rankings.

Quadri, who had briefly slipped to second place, has now ascended to the top once again displacing Egypt’s Omar Assar.

The Nigeria clinched victory at the ITTF Africa Cup held in Rwanda earlier this month, and has seen a significant rise in his ranking, climbing two places to become the highest-rated African player globally.

Meanwhile, Assar’s descent in the rankings is attributed to the expiration of the quarter-finals points he accrued at the Durban 2023 World Championships in South Africa.

Despite a slight drop in rank, Egypt’s Dina Meshref retains her position as the top-ranked female player in Africa, standing at 24th place globally.

Hana Goda, also from Egypt, maintains her position as the 31st ranked player worldwide.
