Super Eagles forward, Gift Orban’s hope of winning silverware with Lyon in his first season suffered huge a setback following a defeat to Paris Saint Germain in Saturday’s Coup de France.
Orban had scored two goals in two cup games, but was surprisingly overlooked for the final showdown.
The 21 year-old, who joined Lyon from KKA Gent in January, had initially helped the club qualify for Europa League next season.
He watched from the bench as Lyon succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against the league champions.
Ousmane Dembélé’s gave PSG an early lead with a 22nd-minute goal, leaving Lyon rattled.
Fabián Ruiz increased the lead, netting another for PSG in the 34th minute, much to the elation of their supporters.
Despite Lyon’s spirited efforts, it was Jake O’Brien who managed to narrow the score line to 2-1 in the 55th minute, injecting a flicker of hope for a Lyon comeback.
