NWFL Super 6: Edo Queens Thump Heartland Queens, Improve Title Chances

Edo Queens clinched their second win in the ongoing NWFL Super Six with a 3-1 triumph over Heartland Queens.

The breakthrough came in the 34th minute when Chioma Moses capitalized on a high ball from Goodness Osigwe, lobbing it over goalkeeper Amarachi Atulayo to open the scoring.

Just five minutes later, Kafayat Mafisere doubled the lead by connecting with a cross from Chioma Oliseh and slotting it home with ease.

Early in the second half, Edo Queens extended their lead when Goodness Osigwe evaded her marker on the left wing and unleashed a long-range shot.

Although Atulayo managed to parry the ball, it fell to Emem Essien, who tapped in her fourth goal of the tournament.

Heartland Queens managed to pull one back through Emmanuela James, who took advantage of a poor clearance by the opposition goalkeeper Nkiruka Obidinma.

With this victory, Edo Queens are now second on the table with six points, trailing Bayelsa Queens by one point and sitting one point ahead of Rivers Angels in third place.

Edo Queens will face Nasarawa Amazons in a crucial match on Friday at the Samson Siasia Stadium, scheduled for 1 PM.
