Paris 2024: “It Means A Lot to Me” – Offiong

Nigerian Table tennis star, Edem Offiong has described her qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games as a dream come true.

Offiong bagged her Olympic ticket defeating Gracie Fadwa of Tunisia 4-2 in the Women’s Singles to earn her fifth appearance at the Games.

 

 

 

Despite all her achievement, the 37-year-old insists it’s still an honor to fly the Country’s flag and represent Nigeria at the Olympic Games.

“I was very happy because it wasn’t that easy,” Offiong told Brila.net. “It was a bit tough. I was incredibly happy. I would say that I’m incredibly honoured and proud to have this opportunity again to present my country.”

She also stssed the growing popularity and evident changes in the sport, which has also raised the competitive level of players.

“It is a dream come true. From the beginning it seems very difficult because a lot of things have changed.

“Table tennis is fast growing now. But I would just say thank God that I made it and I’m very very happy that I’m going to be in Paris 2024. It means a lot to me.”
