Play The D! Koko Identifies What Rivers Hoopers’ Need Improving

Rivers Hoopers must improve on key areas of their game as the team heads into the Basketball Africa League Playoffs, says Center Victor Anthony Koko.

With a 4-2 record from the Sahara Conference, Rivers Hoopers advanced to the playoffs where they’ll face AS Douanes on May 25, and Koko has identified the team’s defending as an area requiring adjustments.

“For me, defense wins championship games,” the Center told Brila Media . “We need to improve our defense.”

“Those first three games we played with tough defense, but after securing the fourth win, the mindset shifted to having already qualified, which affected our performance in the last two games. We need to improve on our defense,” the Kings Men captain admitted.

Looking ahead to their next game, Koko expressive cautious optimism.

“This is the third time we’re playing AS Douanes. I’m not one to make bold predictions, but I believe in playing our game. I know at the end, we’re going to come out victorious.”
