U17 AFCON Qualifiers: Nigeria Battles Togo For SF Spot

The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria recorded their first win at the WAFU B U-17 Championship, narrowly defeating the Niger Republic 1-0 at the University Stadium in Accra, on Sunday.

A decisive 31st-minute goal from Rapha Adams sealed the victory for Nigeria.

Despite a setback when Chibuike Okorie was sent off in the 63rd minute, the Eaglets held their ground.

A close call came when Mokhtar Ibrahim’s free kick was saved, followed by a corner that was cleared by the Nigerian defense.

With this win, the Golden Eaglets climbed to second place in Group B, accumulating four points from two games.

Burkina Faso leads the group, also with four points but with a superior goal difference, while Niger Republic trails in third with three points.

The Golden Eaglets will face Togo, who have already been eliminated, in their final group match on Wednesday.

A draw will suffice for Nigeria to advance to the semi-finals.
