Offiong, Omotayo Qualify for 2024 Paris Olympics

Nigeria’s Edem Offiong and Omotayo Olajide have secured their spots for the 2024 Paris Olympics at the African Olympic Qualification Tournament in Kigali.

Offiong qualified for the Paris Games following a resilient 4-2 victory over Tunisia’s Fadwa Garci.

This achievement will mark Offiong’s fifth appearance at the Olympics when the games commence in July.

Shortly after, Omotayo Olajide joined Offiong in booking his ticket to Paris with a dominant 4-0 win over Congo-Brazzaville’s Saheed Idowu in the semifinals. This will be Olajide’s second Olympic appearance.

In contrast, Nigeria’s Fatimo Bello was unable to secure her place at the Olympics.

Bello fell 4-2 to Cameroon’s Sarah Hanffou, who claimed an Olympic ticket in what will be the final year of her professional table tennis career.
