Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri secured the coveted Africa Table Tennis Championship title by defeating Mohamed EL Beiali of Egypt in a one-sided final match held in Kigali, Rwanda on Tuesday.
This victory marks Quadri’s long-awaited return to the top, as he had been striving for the title since his last triumph in 2017, facing three consecutive defeats to Mohamed EL Beiali in previous finals.
After a seven-year journey, the Nigerian’s persistence paid off as he claimed the championship title in a resounding 4-0 victory over his opponent.
Expressing his relief and joy, Quadri emphasized the significance of reclaiming the title after a series of challenging competitions.
“I never gave up on my dream, it doesn’t matter where you come from, I came from a small place in Oyo state in Nigeria, and it was really difficult growing up.
“I just want to tell them that something great is very possible to happen in every individual,” He concluded.
