Bayer Leverkusen secured a flawless victory thumping VFL Bochum 5-0 in Sunday’s Bundesliga match to extend their unbeaten streak to 50 matches across all competitions.

The match saw Victor Boniface back on the goal-scoring charts for the Bundesliga Champions.

Patrik Schick set the tone early on, breaking the deadlock with a precise strike, putting Leverkusen in the lead.

However, it was Victor Boniface who stole the spotlight, doubling Leverkusen’s advantage with a coolly converted penalty kick.

The penalty was awarded in first-half added time, following a dynamic run from Tella that was abruptly halted by Bochum’s Keven Schlotterbeck.

With nerves of steel, Boniface confidently dispatched the penalty leaving Bochum goalkeeper Manuel Riemann stranded as he sent the ball in the opposite direction.

Remarkably, this marked the Nigerian’s 13th league goal of the season – his third in six matches since his return from a three-month long injury.

The second half saw no respite for Bochum, as Amine Adli added insult to injury with a powerful header from a corner, extending Leverkusen’s lead.

Late goals from Josip Stanisic and Alex Grimaldo completed the rout, sealing a comprehensive victory for Leverkusen.
