Overall, it was a weekend filled with standout performances from Nigerian players across Europe, as we countdown to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in June.
We start in Italy where Samuel Chukwueze provided featured in AC Milan’s game against Genoa at the San Siro.
Chukwueze registered an assist as AC Milan were forced to settle for a point in their six-goal thriller against Genoa.
The 24-year-old winger started the match and put in a decent performance before being substituted in the 81st minute.
In Germany, Victor Boniface scored from the spot in Bayer Leverkusen 5-1 victory over Frankfurt, coming off the bench.
Boniface, 23, contributed significantly to Bayer’s title win, and currently the team’s top scorer with 12 goals and 9 assists.
In England, Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey had solid performances as Fulham played out a goalless draw against Frank Onyeka’s Brentford.
Onyeka did not start the game and was introduced for the final Eight minutes.
Taiwo Awoniyi returned from injury as Nottingham Forest battled in a relegation scrap with just two games remaining.
