Rivers Hoopers Center, John Wilkins has acknowledged that the team still has a significant amount of work to do to be fully prepared for the upcoming Basketball Africa League (BAL).

Despite this, Wilkins remains optimistic about the team’s prospects and believes they can set a new standard for Nigerian teams in the future.

“We have a lot of work to do to be competitive for the BAL,” the Center admitted.

“However, with the remainder of our training camp and the tournament being held in Lagos, I believe we’ll be ready for our first game on May 4th.”

Reflecting on past performances of Nigerian teams in the BAL, Wilkins expressed confidence in the current Rivers Hoopers squad.

He believes that with himself, Kelvin, Will, and the other upcoming players, they can show the way for Nigerian teams and achieve success in the tournament.

“I’m really, really optimistic,” Wilkins said. “I know that in previous years, Nigerian teams haven’t performed well in the BAL. But with the current squad and the talent we have, I think we can set the pace, secure some wins, and be more competitive.”
