Omar Assar and Aruna Quadri are set to headline Africa’s representation at the 2024 ITTF World Cup in Macao, China, scheduled from April 15 to 21.
This marks the first time in the event’s history that eight African players will grace the $1 million prize-money elite tournament.
Assar, the reigning 2023 African Games champion, and Quadri stand at the forefront of Africa’s formidable contingent.
Joining them in the men’s category are Egypt’s Ahmed Saleh and Mohamed El-Beaili. Meanwhile, the women’s event will feature Egypt’s Hana Goda, also a 2023 African Games champion, alongside her compatriots Mariam Alhodaby and Yousra Helmy, as well as Cameroon’s Sarah Hanffou.
With such a strong lineup, expectations are high for Africa’s representation at the 2024 ITTF World Cup as these athletes aim to make their mark on the global stage.
