Portuguese tactician Jose Peseiro, who recently parted ways with the Nigerian national team, has issued a cautionary message to anyone eyeing the position of Super Eagles head coach, emphasizing the immense challenges that come with the role.

Having guided Nigeria to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Peseiro has firsthand experience of the pressures and expectations associated with managing the Super Eagles.

Reflecting on his tenure, Peseiro highlighted the unpredictable nature of the job and the scrutiny coaches face from various quarters, despite achieving notable success. He stressed that managing the Nigerian national team demands resilience and adaptability, as criticism can quickly overshadow accomplishments.

“It’s not a job for everybody,” Peseiro remarked. “You really don’t know what to expect at the job. One minute, you are doing well, and in a flash, another person is questioning how well you are doing.”

Despite leading Nigeria to their best AFCON performance in over a decade, Peseiro noted that there will always be detractors and high expectations from fans, who often demand victory in every match played with flair and style.

“The fans want to win everything and in style. It is a very difficult job,” Peseiro added.
