Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare was racially abused by fans for missing a penalty during Genk’s Belgian Pro League game against Club Brugge, on Sunday.

Arokodare’s unsuccessful attempt from the penalty spot followed Gent’s 3-0 defeat against Raphael Onyedika’s Club Brugge.

The striker played 56 minutes before being substituted by compatriot Yira Sor. Unfortunately, the racial messages continued on Arokodare’s social media pages post-game.

Despite the off-field challenges, Arokodare has a noteworthy record in the league with eight goals and two assists, while his compatriot Sor has scored six times in 19 games.
