Nigeria suffered a third defeat in the 2025 AfroBasket Qualifiers, succumbing 78-62 to Cape Verde, on Sunday, in Monastir.

Despite a strong start in the first quarter, where they outscored Cape Verde 24-16, Nigeria faced a setback in the second quarter, falling 23-9.

The third quarter witnessed a close battle, ending 21-18 in favor of Cape Verde, who ultimately secured the victory with an 18-11 lead in the final quarter.

With three consecutive losses, D’Tigers remain resilient, holding onto the hope of qualifying for next year’s tournament.

The team is now focused on the upcoming window in February 2025, aiming to secure victories in all three matches to revive their chances in the qualifiers.
