West Brom Boss Expresses Ajayi Concern

Super Eagles star, Semi Ajayi is in the race to feature in West Brom’s Championship clash with Southampton on Friday.

Ajayi played every minutes of Nigeria’s seven matches at the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations.

He helped the team finished second after the defeat to Cote d’Ivoire in the final of the tournament.

Following a successful outing in Cote d’Ivoire, Ajayi and his teammates were hosted by Nigeria President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Abuja where they received national honors.

West Brom Manager Carlos Corberan however hope Ajayi can return to the club on time and be available for selection for their Championship.

“We want both ( Ajayi and Grady Diangana who represented Democratic Republic of Congo) for the next game but there are things we cannot control and we need to wait. I want (for Friday), hopefully yes, because if both are here both strengthen our squad.”

He added: “With Semi, he will arrive after tomorrow (Thursday), let’s see, but training on Thursday is in the afternoon, probably he will train, but after that I will make a decision.”

Ajayi enjoyed an impressive outing in Cote D’Ivoire as he formed a solid partnership with William Troost-Ekong and Calvin Bassey.
