Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has provided latest update on his first choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali who is battling to be fit for their game against Angola.
Contrary to the reports that he’s been cleared to take part in the game, Peseiro said the goalkeeper is not yet fit and will have another round of test to determine if he’ll be available for selection.
Nwabali sustained a mild ligament injury in Nigeria’s Round of 16 victory against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon last Sunday.
The Chippa United star trained with his teammates on Wednesday and will be part of the session later this evening.
Speaking with the media, Peseiro said the player will know his fate after another test this evening.
“We will do the final test on Thursday (today). After that we will decide whether he can start or not,” Peseiro told reporters.
“But we are confident in the other goalkeepers in the team. We have Francis Uzoho and Olorunleke Ojo. They are capable of replacing Stanley.”
Nwabali replaced Francis Uzoho as number and kept three clean sheets in his four competitive games for the Super Eagles.
