William Troost-Ekong was rested in Nigeria’s final group match in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations clash with Guinea Bissau due to injury.
The defender sustained a hamstring injury in the 1-0 victory against host, Cote d’Ivoire last Thursday.
Ekong was spotted with an ice pack wrapped at the back of his knee, and did not train on the eve of Monday’s encounter.
The 30-year-old will undergo a scan to know the extent of the injury, and faces a race to be fit for the rest of the competition.
After the 1-0 victory against Guinea Bissau, head coach Jose Peseiro explained that the injury to his CB was a minor problem.
