Former Togo striker, Emmanuel Adebayor has thrown his weight behind Nigeria, and tipped the team to clinch the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title.
Adebayor shared his optimism during his visit to the Super Eagles’ team hotel in Abidjan on Tuesday morning.
Expressing his support for the three-time African champions, the former Togo captain conveyed his confidence in the team’s ability to succeed.
“I’m rooting for the Super Eagles to win the trophy. I’m with Nigeria and hope the players will deliver,” the former African Player of the Year said.
As the Super Eagles gear up for their second group game against hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Adebayor’s endorsement adds a boost to the team’s morale.
Nigeria commenced their AFCON 2023 campaign with a 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday and currently sit joint-second in Group A behind Cote d’Ivoire.
