Super Eagles Head Coach Jose Peseiro has made a late call-up to include Paul Onuachu in the squad for the African Cup of Nations, set to take place in Cote D’Ivoire.
The decision comes as a replacement for the unfortunate Sadiq Umar, who has been sidelined due to a knee injury sustained by Real Sociedad’s lanky forward during training.
Sources report that Onuachu has been drafted into the squad, pending approval by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The Tranzonspor’s forward is expected to fill the void left by Umar during the tournament.
However, Peseiro faces additional challenges with key players Wilfred Ndidi and Victor Boniface ruled out for the entire competition.Â
Furthermore, the absence of Kelechi Ihenacho and Terem Moffi is anticipated in the opening Group game against Equatorial Guinea, posing further challenges for the Super Eagles’ campaign in AFCON.
