OGC Nice’s striker Terem Moffi is facing a significant setback ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast next year.
The 24-year-old suffered a hamstring injury just hours before the club’s Ligue 1 fixture against Le Havre on Saturday, rendering him a major doubt for the prestigious tournament.
The French club, in an announcement on their official social media handle, confirmed that Moffi was excluded from the match-day squad due to the injury.
While the exact severity of the injury is yet to be disclosed by Nice, early indications suggest a recovery period of at least four to six weeks for the hamstring injury.
As the AFCON kickoff date approaches on January 13, Peseiro faces uncertainty regarding Moffi’s availability.
Should Moffi fail to recover, Peseiro may need to consider alternatives like Paul Onuachu, Cyriel Dessers and Sadiq Umar.
Despite the setback, Moffi has showcased impressive form for OGC Nice throughout the current season, featuring in all 15 league games before the recent injury setback.
