2023 AFCON: Peseiro Unveils Super Eagles Provisional Squad

Nigeria’s head coach, Jose Peseiro has submitted a 50-man provisional list to CAF in anticipation of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations next year.

Sources revealed to Brila.net the selections by the Portuguese coach, with notable returns to the squad for players like Ahmed Musa and Paul Onuachu.

 

 

Among the goalkeepers, Chippa United’s Stanley Nwabili secures a spot, joined by the likes of Francis Uzoho, Adewale Adeleye based in Israel, and Enyimba’s Ojo Olorunleke.

Surprisingly, former first-choice goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, Glasgow Rangers defender Leon Balogun, and forward Cyriel Dessers find no place in the provisional list.

The final squad of 27 players is expected to be unveiled by Coach Peseiro on January 3 2024, just ten days before Nigeria’s opening match against Equatorial Guinea at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan.

The team will begin camping for the tournament later this month.
