Rivers United secured a commanding 3-0 triumph over Academia do Lobito of Angola in their first group stage encounter in the 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup.

The match which held in Uyo, showcased a stellar and complete performance by Rivers United.

Samuel Antwi swiftly put Rivers United into the lead within three minutes, capitalizing on a well-executed play orchestrated by Paul Odeh.

Odeh, not content with assisting, extended the lead by finding the net himself just two minutes into the second half.

The home team solidified their dominance as Shedrack Asiegbu sealed the victory with a goal in the 60th minute.

In the other Group C fixture, Club Africain of Tunisia secured a 2-0 win against Ghana’s Dreams FC.

Consequently, Rivers United currently leads the group based on goal difference.

Stanley Eguma’s men will now face Dreams FC in their upcoming match at the Cape Coast Stadium next Sunday.
