Victor Osimhen Leads 2023 CAF Men’s PoTY Contenders

Nigerian and Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen is a strong contender for the 2023 CAF Men’s Player of the Year accolade.

Osimhen is among 30 nominees unveiled by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) this afternoon.

Other prominent contenders include Mohamed Salah, Riyad Mahrez, Sadio Mane, Achraf Hakimi, and Hakim Ziyech.

The 24 year-old Nigerian who is the front runner, enjoyed a productive spell with Napoli, coring 26 goals in 32 matches last season, ans helped Napoli secure their first Scudetto in 33 years last season.

 

He also netted five goals in six UEFA Champions League matches as the Partenopei reached the last eight for the first time in their history.

 

Should he claim this award, Victor Osimhen will become the first Nigerian to win the prestigious award since Nwankwo Kanu in 1996.
