Remo Stars will welcome Shooting Stars of Ibadan to Ikenne for their fifth match of the Nigeria Premier Football League season.
Known as the kings of the Southwest derby, the Sky Blues have an impressive record of 8 wins and 4 draws in their last 12 matches.
What makes this Wednesday’s game special is that two former Remo Stars players, Sikiru Alimi and Charles Tambe, once donned the Oluyole Warriors’ jersey.
Alimi struggled during his six months stay at the club due to several reasons, while Tambe is regarded as a hero for his years of outstanding service to the team before his departure.
The Cameroonian goalkeeper, Tambe, played a crucial role in helping Shooting Stars gain promotion to the top-flight division, endearing himself to the fans.
“I have great time with them and made a lot of friends there, but this game is important to my team and friendship will be out aside.” Tambe told Brila.net
“They are having a great season, they are defending well and have great players, but above all I know my team. We will try to score and play like we know how we can.
“I trust our coaches. We have a good game plan and implement it the best way possible to achieve a great performance.”
Both Tambe and Alimi are expected to be in the squad to face their former team in this exciting matchup.
Alimi has netted three goals for the club in just four games this season, whereas Tambe made a single appearance in the 2-1 victory against Bayelsa United.
